• the mineral's size depends on what enviroment it's surrounded by
  • if it is left undisturbed and heated, larger crystals will form
  • if it is cooled rapidly, smaller crystals will form

Minerals From Hot water solutions

• sometimes,the water in the sea seeps into the cracks in the mid-ocean ridge
  • the water is heated to high heat by the magma
  • minerals are dissolved into the water
  • since hot water rises, the water is forced out a tube called a chimney

Minerals Formed by Evaporation

• minerals can be dissolved in water
• when the water evaporates, the minerals are left behind

Were Minerals Are Found

• Earth's crust is mostly made of minerals
• you can find most minerals around volcanic activities
